Deshima Music was established in 1994 as an independent label rooted in guitar-driven and alternative music cultures. In the early 2000s, the label entered an expansion phase under Chris Schulze’s direction, combining traditional label work with innovative production, artist development, and media-oriented projects.

Today, this foundation has evolved into a clear structure: Deshima Music provides the label framework and organizational backbone, while Deshima Sessions operates as a decentralized production network.

Musicians, vocalists, producers, and engineers contribute from different countries, while concept development, creative direction, and final integration are coordinated centrally from Braunschweig - up to the finished release.

Traditional studio production is often location-bound and linear: everyone must be present at the same place and time, capacities are fixed, and costs rise quickly through studio bookings and travel.

This model reverses that logic.

Creative and organizational control is centralized, while production itself is decentralized and modular. Project-specific teams are assembled independent of location, workflows run in parallel, and artistic control remains clearly defined.
